WQED continues its Dead Air celebrations with director and composer John Harrison! John speaks with Jim Cunningham about his celebrated horror film career and collaborations with George Romero.
John is WQED family, having hosted the WQED-FM morning show (Sleeper's Awake, at the time). He met George Romero through a newspaper article and Romero's work on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. John talks about the success of Night of the Living Dead, assistant directing and scoring Creep Show and other projects, and why people love the zombie genre. He also shares George Romero's duels with Martin Scorsese over the film version of the opera The Tales of Hoffman, among other stories.
John is collaborating with local composer Christian Kreigeskotte on a George Romero event in March. Learn more about Dead Air and check out upcoming festivities at wqed.org/deadair.
