Brew House Arts has a new exhibition opening on January 27th! We sat down with the curator, Hannah Turpin, and two artists in the exhibition, Harrison Apple and Jules Malice, to discuss "When the Lights Come on: Queer Nightlife as Emergent Space". Hannah shares the inspiration behind the show which is to examine how queer nightlife has acted as a safe haven for marginalized communities throughout the years. Jules talks about their piece, which is an immersive fabric-based art installation that brings queer nightlife's energy to life. Harrison talks about their work as an archivist and artist who explores stories and legacies of queer Pittsburgh through media preservation. You can touch and manipulate a VHS tape, or view sculptures and much more in this exhibition that features work by 12 different artists across the world. Listen for a deep and interesting conversation about each artists work, and how bringing them together for this exhibition is a community in itself. "When the Lights Come On: Queer Nightlife as Emergent Space" will have an opening reception on January 27th at 6 pm, with DJ sets and live voguing. You can see this free exhibition until March 22nd.
