Renaissance City Choir's Pride Concert

Episode Summary

It is Pride Month in Pittsburgh! Artistic Director of Renaissance City Choir, Kym Scott, talks about their upcoming Pride Concert, #THIS IS ME. Kym talks about the spirit of the concert, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in Pittsburgh, and reflecting on the importance of never going back. She highlights the program, which includes "This is Me" from the Greatest Showman, "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga, and "Does the World Say" by Kyle Peterson. The choir will also perform an original song from last year by a choir member, called "P.R.I.D.E (Persistent Resistance in Defense of Equality)". Kym also talks about the choir's 40th anniversary this year, which will be celebrated in the concert. In the last song, alumni are welcome to join in celebration. She highlights the new venue for the concert, the Pittsburgh Public Playhouse, which has air-conditioning! There will also be enough space for a small band. After Pride, the choir takes a break for the summer. Kym looks forward to planning next season, especially as she will be on Sabbatical from West Virginia University. You can hear Renaissance City Choir's "#THIS IS ME" Pride Concert on June 27th and 28th. The concerts start at 7:30 pm at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. Visit https://rccpittsburgh.com/ to learn more.
