Meet the Young Artists of Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh

Artistic Director of Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, Edward Leonard, talks with Jim Cunningham live on the WQED Classical morning show about their upcoming concert. The concert celebrates this year's Junior and Senior winners of COP's Young Artist Concerto Competition. Cellist Chase Hahl is the junior winner, a Fox Chapel high schooler. Violinist Joshua Lee is the senior division winner from Carnegie Mellon University. Chase performed Bach's Third Cello Suite in C Major the Sarabande live, and Joshua played the cadenza from the Fourth Violin Concerto by Mozart. Joshua talks about his upcoming senior recital at Carnegie Mellon this Sunday, where he will be playing Schumann's A Minor Sonata. Joshua talks about being on spring break from Fox Chapel High School. Both discuss the pieces they will be playing this weekend. Joshua will play the first movement of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4. Chase will be performing the first movement of Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No. 1. Edward Leonard talks about why the COP does this event every year, and why uplifting young artists is so important.
