Aria412 is presenting a new opera, "The Blue Fairy". Composer Robert Frankenberry, soprano Jenna Ziccardi, and co-founder Desiree Soteres, talks about the production. Jenna plays the Blue Fairy, and Robert plays Pinocchio. The 70-minute opera is a unique take on the Pinocchio story. A human Pinocchio wishes to return into a puppet, but cannot until he becomes truly human by shedding a single tear. The Blue Fairy, is emotionally distant and struggles to understand humanity. Robert talks about the music in this production, which features a string quartet, piano, and electric guitar to add a more contemporary feel. Desiree talks about producing this work, and how it all came together. Jenna highlights the emotional struggles of the Blue Fairy. Jenna and Robert perform a short piece from the opera together in WQED-FM's studios. This family-friendly show is unique, and will be very intimate in a black box-style theater. You can see Aria412's "The Blue Fairy" at the Richard E. Rauh Studio Theater in the Cathedral of Learning. There are shows on June 19th, 20th, and 21st.
